How is the right canopy size determined?
Canopy size is determined by the type and size of cooking equipment beneath it and the required capture velocity. As a minimum, the canopy should overhang the cooking equipment on all exposed sides. We calculate the required airflow rate and use this to size the canopy and fan.
Do I need planning permission for a canopy hood installation?
If the installation requires a new external discharge point such as a wall or roof penetration, this may require building regulations approval. In some locations, planning permission may also be required for external extract points. We advise on requirements for your specific installation.
Can you replace an existing canopy without replacing all the ductwork?
In many cases, yes — particularly if the existing ductwork is correctly sized and in good condition. We assess the full system before quoting to determine what needs to be replaced or adapted.
